My Biggest Fear - An Unlived Life

No Regrets

I chose this photo, taken in a village churchyard in Devon, to represent my biggest fear which is finding myself on my deathbed and having regrets.

Some years a go I found this poem:

Untitled – from the book - I Will Not Die an Unlived Life by Dawna Markova

I will not live in fear
Of falling or catching fire.

I choose to inhabit my days
To allow my living to open me,
To make me less afraid,
more accessible,
To loosen my heart
Until it becomes a wing,
A torch, a promise.

I choose to risk my significance; to live
So that which came to me as seed
Goes to the next as blossom
And that which came to me as blossom
Goes on as fruit.

It expresses so well how I feel about making the most of life. It's words are something I aspire to and, although I sometimes forget, I find it to be an inspiring reminder of what matters most to me.

Thank you. Was a bit concerned people might find it a bit morbid! 😊

This is short but carries weight. Wow you really mean what you posited here I struggle to put doubt it but sure your choice of words wriggles deep feelings poured out.

Thanks!

Thank you!

That is a powerful message, there is a lot of truth behind it. We only live once, only one opportunity to make the most of it. Thank you for sharing this.

@originalworks seems to have focused on the poem and not the words around it or the image. The website referenced has printed the same poem. I have cited the source of the poem but not this particular website in my post. I imagine the poem itself can be found all over the web But my post is unique i.e. the description and the image are mine.

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you!
