As Son House, the legendary delta blues man said, "I love everybody, I'd even love a snake if I wasn't so scared of him, I like a snake, but I can't trust him. Some people say a snake that lays eggs is not poisonous, only snakes that birth them like a rattle snake" he said "I don't care how may eggs it lays, I don't trust them, all I want to know is the name snake!"

This is the Banded Kukri. They're pretty much nocturnal and they don't have a venom as such, but they have large egg piercing teeth (their favourite food) that will easily lacerate you as they roll and twist and turn in a ball if you get too close or accitentally stand on, or very close to, one. Despite it not carrying a venom, an infection is most likely to occur, especially in the tropical heat of Thailand, where I photographed this one.

I love hunting for snakes with the camera if I'm in a snakey place. Most of them are very wary of man for good reason, so usually if they hear you coming they're long gone before you get near to them.
