The Upper Gate

This building was built between 1530 and 1540 by Count Palatine Ottheinrich for the city of Neuburg. You can not see this almost 500 years at this beautiful gate, but inside a total renovation is necessary and will be tackled in the next few years. Above the main path you can see the coat of arms of the city with the princes Ottheinrich and Philipp as Steckenreiter.

Das Obere Tor

Dieses Bauwerk wurde zwischen 1530 und 1540 von Pfalzgraf Ottheinrich für die Stadt Neuburg erbaut. Diese fast 500 Jahre sieht man dem wunderschönen Tor nicht an, allerdings ist im Inneren eine Totalrenovierung notwendig und wird in den nächsten Jahren in Angriff genommen. Über dem Hauptweg ist das Wappen der Stadt mit den Prinzen Ottheinrich und Philipp als Steckenreiter zu sehen.

In front of the gate was the moat with water from the Danube, which was blown up in 1539 in the Jurassic. Unfortunately, the ditch was filled in 1899 and drained the entire ditch around the old town. During the renovation a few years ago, this ditch was partially dug up again and a small piece of it can be seen here.

Vor dem Tor befand sich der Stadtgraben mit Wasser aus der Donau, der 1539 in den Jurafels gesprengt wurde. Leider wurde der Graben 1899 zugeschüttet und der gesamte Graben um die Altstadt damit trockengelegt. Bei der Sanierung vor etlichen Jahren wurde dieser Graben teilweise wieder ausgegraben und ein kleines Stück davon ist hier zu sehen.
