What's good my fellow steemers today I thought I would share a little story which was a turning point in my art, probably should've been the intro post lol
So I've always been into art growing up but always hated painting while on the contrary loved using chalks and other dry mediums. Fast forward to 2014 while I'm in university and a friend suggests I watch "Breaking Bad" the series; watching shows whilst getting high in university to pass time consumed a lot of my time...fast forward to when I finished it, I was so taken away by the concept of the show as many were and wanted to do a fan art piece for it but in painting which I hated but ironically that's what medium I wanted to do it in (THE FIGHT WAS REAL lol) so finally decide to challenge my self to paint the characters ( which at first was almost everyone in the show! lol) thankfully I didn't
And then the 60 hour journey began! I'll try explain where my head was at as I show you the stages
So here is the final result which I was over the moon with!! #proudmoment
First step was to sketch out the characters which I'm used to doin so challenge was still pending!!
Nearly done with sketch before painting. For accuracy ( which is about 60/70%) on the sketch I used a line of geometry technique drawing lines from feature to feature on the face till you have sketch. (don't know the correct term for it lol) but it works so...;p
So the paint finally touched the canvas. I remember not being pleased with how Jesse was looking at this point( more crack fin than usual) I was happy with Heisenberg but thought he was too dark!(everything was by accident at this point good and bad)
The turning point in this painting came after Hank, he was probably the scariest to start because he takes the cake for most/awkward wrinkles but surprisingly he was the easiest, I was probably at the 30-40 hours at this point so maybe the mileage was paying off!!
You can see Hank came out nicely and was a pivotal point in the painting, as you can see I revisited Jesse after to rid him of that addict look aswell as Walter to match hank abit more and started on Gustavo and a bit of the background!
So I kept going back and forth as you do, but at this stage I was focused on the background which I probably should've left white but I was happy with it overall!
Lesson learnt: Never tell yourself you can't do anything because you'll believe it!
Hope you enjoyed my little story.
Let me know what brought you out of your shell, maybe in your life or field leave a comment, upvote, resteem if you like. Thanks
Very nice art. It would be even better if you show your steemit nickname sign on your art pictures.
