Especially if you go somewhere in the North of Russia, in the wildly visited wild places of Siberia. In those parts there are probably still places where the human foot has not set foot, and rivers whose fish are not familiar with modern baits and gear. It is in such untrodden regions that a myriad of fish have been preserved, and bears roam along the banks of rivers ...

Many of my friends travel to such trips at least once a year. Someone goes with the desire to catch salmon, for someone the goal is catching taimen and grayling. Well, there are those who want to catch the largest pike in their lives. The Siberian rivers give such a chance. But even if you are not lucky with the capture of the trophy, fishing in the wild taiga rivers is unlikely to be forgotten. After all, the fish there are not just many, but very many ...
When preparing for a similar trip, you need to take a very serious approach to the selection of gear and baits. Every gram of excess cargo in such an expedition is a burden. Therefore, to compose sets of gear and pick up a set of baits must be very thoughtful.
I would probably take two sets with me. Medium-light and heavy. Medium-light would be useful when fishing grayling, perch and small pike. Optimal to include in it a rod length of 7-8 feet long with a test for baits of 21-28 grams, a reel of dimension 3,000 on the line of Shimano and two spools with cords # 0,8 and 1,2. Catching this kit is likely to have on spinners and oscillating spoon-bait, and possibly wobblers up to 110 mm. A heavy kit is useful when hunting for a large pike and the owner of Siberian rivers - taymenem. The fishing rod for such fishing will require a powerful one, allowing to fight on equal terms with these river giants. Suitable spinning lengths up to 8 feet, with a test for weight baits 56-70 grams. The reel is strictly power, 4000-5000 on the line of Shimano. The PE-line is minimal # 2, but better and more reliable # 2,5-3,0. Lures - large spinners No. 5-7 on the Mepps scale, wobblers 130-160 mm, wobbly spoon-baits with a palm the size (or even more).
