Tackle Preparation For Deep Sea Rockfishing

I don't know where you're going to fish but some species of Rockfish are critically endangered (in my area there are several) so do a little research before you set out and make sure you dont keep one of those accidentally. Hope you have a good time :)

We live in california where rockfish are extremely abundant and they could be kept at any size.

It really depends on the species of Rockfish which is why I urged you to do research about it, if only to save yourself some trouble. https://cdfgnews.wordpress.com/2017/08/25/anglers-reminded-to-avoid-yelloweye-rockfish/

I am well informed on the rules and regulations and I dont catch the rare species of rockfish

This is a green spotted rockfish, far from endangered. But if I do catch any of the rare ones, I'll be sure to throw them back :)
