One of my worst pet peeve is a theft....
Unfortunately this person didn't come right in front of the camera to get a good image...
Also little do they know the cameras can be tracked by the IMEI number assigned to the camera
just like a cellphone....All i need this person to do is use it as a wireless camera....Even if they change out the SIM card....
Yup Trail cameras have come a long way.....
Still pisses me off....taking one of my cameras....
Camera location: GA
I so hate to see this happen. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to be getting worse by the day on the public lands for this kind of behavior, and worse. Sad, but true, and my personal list of ridiculousness continues to pile up.
I've been working on a post about ethics in the field, though it brings back some real bad feelings to think them through again. Last week, for example, another hunter did his best to cut off a gobbler that I had been working for an hour or so. The guy knew exactly where my decoys were too.
And of course, neither of us got the bird either. Not nice!

Theft is the biggest problem i have seen in this industry with trail cameras. The worst part is more cameras are stolen from private property than public land....Go figure huh...No respect for personal property.....That post on ethics would be a good read.....

I'd be interested in that post. I have no problem with public land use, but there really are proper ways to go about things and people tend treat public places like they would never treat their own. It's the motel or car rental mentality.
My main pet peeve is that these same people pretty much treat all property the same, including the private land leading up to the public. It's just a general disregard for property ownership in general, like they were never taught that 'my stuff isn't their stuff unless I say they can use it', or that they have decided that no one owns the Earth, so it's a free for all.
It always seems to be the ones who don't own anything themselves. And I'm meaning they can't afford it. In some cases, they've chosen a lifestyle rather than forced into one. In other words, this disrespect or misuse of property is not an economic thing.

I found out a while ago that people have little regard for other people's property, even if it's quite obvious that it's not something lost or purposefully left behind. It starts with a disregard for private property along public byways as well as traipsing through people's yards to retrieve the ball or frisbee—then, if left unchecked, it becomes an entitled feeling where basically everything belongs to everyone, regardless of actual ownership or how much is spent in upkeep. Some of those folks graduate to theft. Then apparently don't know what they have because they essentially get caught and broadcast themselves back to the receiver.
I'm glad you got your camera back. Since you were unable to blast him and his family all over the internet did you call in the police to get it back?

I actually didn't have to....Its was so funny how i got it back...So he put the camera on the table or island in his home and i'm watching the whole family mingle around the house....Even the dog.....So after awhile the camera is then disconnected and i loose the signal for about 4 days with no photos. He cant connect to the web portal because i still have it my name....This joker done put his cellphone number and email in the camera to receive photos using my SIM Card. i contacted At&t and got the information and called them letting them know i was going to blast them online......Had him meet me at Walmart -he had his kid bring in the camera to the store to meet me.....Never showed his face to me like a real man......smh.....

Wow. Just wow.
I hope he feels the lowest kind of low. No explanation. No excuses, "Sorry, I didn't know it belonged to anyone." Nothing. Just send in the kid.
Sounds like the guy is failing at more than being a thief. I don't think I could get any of my kids to do that, so he must have threatened them or something. I mean, I doubt, "Son/daughter, your Dad stole this here camera, which makes me a thief, so I need you to go into his here Walmart and give it back to its rightful owner, which also makes me a coward. Love you," would have worked. :)
