It is the cultural and traditional day of the Mbo people of Akwa Ibom state since the commencement of the cultural/traditional heritage display event held in Uyo.

The ceremony, which came today 18th December,
2023 with an extraordinary package of entertainment and shows begins with the chairman opening remarks.

In his address, the local government area chairman Hon.Sunday Okon Etim expressed his sincere appreciation to all who came to the event.

"First of all, I want to thank the almighty God for making all of us to see this day. None of our achievements would have been possible without the collective effort of the state governement, our stake holders, families and friends who are all here. Your every moment dedication and effort has made us go far as a local government. We have come today to learn and remind ourselves about our culture. For the past days, I have seen other local government coming here to showcase their heritage. I believe we would also do our best to stand out. I want to thank all of you once again for your contribution and supports. I wish you all an entertaining day."- Hon.Sunday Okon Etim.

As a people living in a riverine area of the State, the boat is their comon means of transportation and so, they decided to show what is much common in their environment which turn out to be one of their most beautiful exhibitions during their cultural/traditional celebration today

It was a moment of joy and real entertainment as the people of Mbo showcase some of their cultural heritage, music, dances, Ekpo(masquerade) which happened to be one of the oldest display cultures in the state.

Their activities turn out to be a spectacular show especially the ubom (boat) cultural display which made onlookers to wonders of how it moves on land.

Onlookers were curious to know how the mighty landboat was moving around the event center.

The event center was coloured red as most of the cultural displays today had red as part of the costumes.

One of the traditional ruler Obong Asuquo Ekpo educate the audience about their use of red colour which happened to be cultural colour.

"We are people of culture, and red colour turns out to be one of our core attributes as this symbolizes luck and favour in our land. This is why you see us wearing red attire. The basics to our background is tired in there. We are unique and hardworking people and we are proud to come from this beautiful state of diverse culture..."- Obong Asuquo Ekpo
