My Name is What @filnette - Writing Contest

Took me a while to squeeze in the time to join the contest and I don't even know if I'll still make it in time for the deadline but still I'd like to participate. First off, a huge thank you to @reginecruz for tagging me on her own post.

My steemit name, @filnette is actually my real name; just differently spelled. My name is spelled as Felnith. You may wonder about how it came to be. Felnith is actually a combination of my nanay's (my biological mother) name, Ofelia and my mama's (my second mother and an older sister to my father) name, Anita. Since college, I've always wanted my name to be spelled as filnette ; mostly because it is easier to pronounce.

Now, blackthorn. The Celtic name for blackthorn is draighean. I first encountered this word while I was reading Stephie Moss', The Selkie series. The word draighean really caught my attention. The word struck me more when I checked it's meaning: it is used as a symbol showing that, our best fruits sometimes come after trials, setbacks nd tribulations. (Really strucked me to the extent that I even named my online business, Draighean Services) So since I was reading the series at around the same time I joined steemit, I used blackthorn as my profile name. (Now I'm wondering why I didn't use draighean.lol) Initially though, I thought blackthorn would be my steemit name and would be the one to appear to others frequently but it was the profile name instead. I dared not switch it since I did not know how to.

So there you go. That's how my steemit name came to be. Now I'm curious about yours @helenoftroy, @jelena.koprivica, @drader and @jezmacher. Hope you can share about your steemit name's history to us too.
