Another mystery
According to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, the word Luminescence comes from the English Luminiscence and this from Luminicent, which is Luminicente and Ence, gum, is primarily a feminine meaning that is defined as the property that some bodies have to emit light without raising the temperature and secondly it also refers to the light emitted by Luminescence, that is, it is a light emitted by this capacity and it is also the property that some bodies have to emit light.
Some materials such as military-grade paints and some living beings also have this capacity, some insects such as fireflies that emit this type of radiation, which looks very beautiful and of which we can see a representation in the image that heads this publication.
The truth is that Luminescence is a word that has been very mysterious, and that has attracted attention since ancient times, because ancient cultures saw Luminescence as something magical, shamans always understood Luminescence as something that led them to another life, and was associated with UFOs and paranormal objects, beings from another world who came to give us a message.
In fact, culturally, in many religions there is talk of angels who have this Luminescence and it is associated with beings of light, with everything that is pure, which makes Luminescence a phenomenon that captivates all of humanity. In addition, in our world today Luminescence has many uses, for example it is used to demarcate lines on the road so that drivers while driving at night do not leave their lane, and can see that they are keeping the correct path within the roads.
It is also used to delimit or mark dangerous areas, areas where there are ravines, for which luminescent fences are placed and have this property to avoid accidents. Vests are also created or manufactured with this type of Luminescence, which law enforcement or authorities use to stand out at night and thus identify themselves.
In addition to the fact that it is a very beautiful phenomenon, going to any forest at night and meeting these fireflies gives a very magical and mysterious appearance, the Luminescence.
I personally find it very relaxing and the truth is that I enjoy every time there is Luminescence naturally. When I find creatures like caterpillars that are phosphorescent on their own, I find it amazing because this is a way that they alert that they are dangerous, they alert their predators in this way, producing this type of Luminescence.
We can also see this in certain jellyfish that have this Luminescence ability and it is for the same reason: to alert their predators, or those who want to hunt them, that they are dangerous and toxic.
So Luminescence is a very amazing word that holds many mysteries and is very attractive.
