Ever since I moved to Bangalore, Sakleshpur had been on my bucket-list. So last month, when a long weekend arrived, my friends and I headed off to Sakleshpur. We decided to make it a road trip and therefore, opted for our bikes. Sakleshpur is situated at a distance of 221km from Bangalore, India. We made it a point to leave early morning, so as to avoid the traffic and reach before afternoon.
The next day we set off for our trekking. We had a local guide along with us to make sure that we didn't go off track. At first, we all quite underestimated the trek. From below the hill looked pretty small and we were sure to make it to the top without any issue. But on climbing the 1st small one, we were informed that there were 2 more similar hills to cross :D
By far it was the most tiring trek of my life. After crossing the second one, we were so exhausted that we decided to take a break before heading ahead. Luckily for us, the weather was kind that day. It was sunny yet cool at the same time.
[That's me in the grey tshirt.]
After a while, off we went again. By the time we reached the top most peak, we were tired as hell. Our legs gave way and all of us just lay on the grass to rest our feet. In front of us, was a beautiful view of the hills. The sky was completely clear and the sun was shining as bright as possible, adding color to the already mesmerizing view!
We stayed there for quite sometime, simply admiring the beauty. Finally when everyone had mustered the strength to walk again, we started our journey of climbing down. It took us around 2.5 hours to reach the bottom end! The downward walk was difficult as well. Due to the steepness of the hill, at few points it just felt like we'll topple over!
By the time we reached down, we were exhausted and hungry as hell. Tired, we went back to our homestay to fulfill our tummy's demands. Even though the trek wore us out completely, it was one of the best experiences of my life. The view on top has been inked permanently to my memory and now I look forward to many more adventurous experiences and amazing places to explore.
