Isnt it odd how norse mythology and greek are similar? epecially the story of Hermod and going into the underworld, totally reminds me of Hermes and his plights into the underworld.

Indeed, yes. Several similarities between various mythologies. By the time Snorri (and anyone less after) was able to record the stories, the Norse had been in contact with many cultures and so adoption and adaptation most likely occurred.
