The Greek Creation Mythology #6

As the monster approaches Olympus, panic breaks out.

The gods take their legs in their hands and flee to Egypt where they turn into animals.

Apollo becomes a milan, Hermes an Ibis, Ares a fish, Dionysos a goat and Hephaistos a bull.

The flight of the gods to Egypt results in an unexpected fusion of the Greek and Egyptian gods.

Typhon corresponds to Seth, the enemy brother of Osiris.

Dionysus becomes Osiris.

Zeus becomes Horus.

It is an amazing mixture of two worlds that nothing else actually connects.

But let's return to our heroic fight, Zeus against Typhon.

Zeus stands alone against the monster.

It was quickly and briefly sealed.

While Typhon looks for Zeus in the sea off Sicily, Zeus lifts Etna up and throws it at his opponent. Typhon is trapped under Etna and Zeus authority can no longer be denied.

He is undisputedly the lord over the gods.

Now it is time to divide the world.

Zeus secures the greatest power for himself and chooses heaven as his residence.

His older brother Poseidon becomes ruler of the sea and Hades his other brother receives the keys to the underworld and becomes the ruler of the realm of the dead.

So from now on it is a hierarchically organized world and the supreme world leader is one who emerged from the chaos.

Everything that was in the sky was hunted and locked in the Tartaros or banished to the earth to the mortals.

An almighty God is born, but this God does not issue dogmas, he does not need a clergy.

For Zeus, who will rule the world from now on, it is a difficult task, he must maintain order without becoming a despot.

So it's kinda like Marduk's myth... where Tiamat is Typhon and Zeus is Marduk. 🤔

in a way many mythological stories/legends are similiar, in some are the actions the same only the names changes :)
