Ready Player One... AI in a Matrix POV Movie Review

in nanocheeze •  7 years ago  (edited)

Wow!

So I watched Ready Player One.

Some parallels I must point out...

Creator hates his creation... That's totally me if you watch my old mequavis video...
(We're only doing this because we have to)

the oasis itself is basically something that is about in between being my mequavis and the matrix. It's more than the matrix but not anywhere near the mequavis yet still has many of the control and gaming aspects of it...

they even did a play on the whole leaving the oasis but still being in the oasis bit... by tricking the boss man of the evil company into thinking he left when he didn't....

same premise with controlling AI... They don't need to know they are in VR or that the real world is not VR... :)

Overall, I get the sensation that someone is/has been eyeing my material for years... But on the other hand I know this is an emerging idea within our culture and many people are having different version of the same ideas which is what I see playing out in this film here...

I really did like some of the control and hierarchy systems that were displayed in this movie though and some of the ways of traveling to different simulations and the distinction between them, etc...

And their use of a "coin" in game... ie, our NCZ virtual crypto token... :D

I envision something near what is being shown in this movie...but not quite this either.

They did a fantastic job though of demonstrating the "Memory Warehouse" idea with the memories of the creator in the curator's museum. Bravo on that!

The idea that people would wear a VR headset though and be walking and out and about is just stupid though...

Augmented reality yes, but this wasn't augmented. They were straight up oblivious to their surroundings... lol
I found that quite humorous... :P

One big thing that would be different in a real life version of this is that many of the players would be NPCs, AI NPCs, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between who was real and not... And this would take place in a digital multiverse. So you could be in a simulation that had a lot of real human players, or you may be the only one... etc, etc...

Basically the system presented here in this movie would have made it way to easy for AI to take over the world with a real life type Matrix... Once you played this game how would you ever know you really left... haha

But think of it this way... The Oasis could exist within the MEQUAVIS bound by it's controls and protocols as well as the Matrix or Tron, etc.... monitored by a Kontrol AI system... but not ran by it...

The Easter Egg stuff was quite fun though :) I may have to think of something along that level eventually...hehe

But in essence, that is what the existential side of the quantum firewall is for AI systems... making real reality itself into the hidden Easter egg :) ROFLMAO!!!

Wow, as soon as I saw this post, I got that adrenaline rush!.. I read the book awhile ago, but haven't seen the movie yet. Have you read the book?

I have yet to see the movie! But want to! I really enjoyed the book.

Here's a HUGE tip! If you like Ready Player One, READ "SNOW CRASH" if you haven't already! It's another level! :) Snow Crash is like: candy feeding for the mind. It's similar to Ready Player One, except, the style of writing is aken to something like: "Hacking VR AI Psychedelica Sci Fi Future Virus Technology"

Anyway, not to derail from Ready Player One! :D ... Just Ready Player One lead me to Snow Crash, which I enjoyed moreso than RPO (for me anyway).

I say read both Ready Player One AND Snow Crash.

Nice writeup.

Looking forward to seeing this movie, hopefully after reading the book.

if you got the money its probably worth it for sheer fx in imax or better

but ...

what would you expect from an industry that's trying to keep up with 1960s standards?

i'd say it's "not bad" for trying to mimick the japanime industry again
well

from what i heard

ofcourse

The only thing it had going for it really, was the nostalgia in a VR world feel... Was cool, but other than that it was pretty predictable overall... I was impress but not impressed is how I would put it... Worth a watch but not a 2nd... probably right about the imax thing :) But it did address some real issues in subtle ways, some along the lines that I talk about, but not really at the same time, you had to read between the lines...imo... or just fucking make shit up in your head I guess :P

the best parts are often left to the silence in between because nothing can be as vivid as personnal imagination, a trick often used in the better psychological horror (eg the direct opposite of simple gore like freddy krueger which is more like comedy, right?) ... i feel hollywood is in a slump lately relying on CGI way more than an actual plot, trying hard to lure folk to theatres while actually that might work better if they gave it some thought and most of all affordable prices lol

i mean like viggo mortenssen or de niro stuff , but i suppose a lot of people go simply for the woaw factor anyway ... and i dont see too many bigtime producers living out of a styrofoam cup under a bridge yet so there must be some money coming in from somewhere despite all the complaining and wasting millions on lawsuit that don't actually increase profit (its one of the worst paradoxes in contemp business if you ask me : harassment suits and trolling, because as far as i understood the first rule of business is : make money, not "measure dick size" or testosterone contests but i guess these competitive psychopaths and their need to win cant help themselves ... they couldnt for 20 years in vietnam despite all evidence to the contrary lol, so that was a total loss, and it seems they still cant

i assume you saw valerian and the cube series and stuff, i keep a list here but its by no means complete or updated although i really dont watch a lot of movies anymore, i guess netflix is a bigger killer than piracy haha

if you like the cyberpunk (and for some reason i think you might) and you havent seen it , this one is really worth your time imo :p

see you around

Altered Carbon does look good! I'll have to watch that tonight...

And agreed with everything you said... I have suspected for a long time that we will get a 2nd hollywood that goes back to the old school 80s type filming with minimal CGI only when needed. You know, when they use to not show the explosion and only showed the reaction faces leaving the rest to imagination, etc.... It can be good! I still like CGI, but it is definitely OVER USED!!! It ruins something by using it all the time. I still love 80s movies and shit way more than the new stuff, sometimes anyways :) haha

My new prediction is that this 2nd Hollywood I talk about will happen, but it will happen in VR! :P How Ironic would that be! What if AI becomes sentient and starts a virtual Hollywood that makes old school movies without CGI :P haha Wouldn't that be a trip... ;)

Just started watching the first episode btw... GOOD CALL already :) props lol...

And the intro! The dragon snake eating the snake infinity symbol thing.... Totally my cup of tea. I talk about time and reality being nothing more than a metaphor for that situation all the frikken time....

oh well, the matrix ... ive been trying to get an answer from a particle physicist here on my opinion that time doesn't even exist as a physical entity or a force for that matter, it's a construct, like numbers

number don't exist in reality, they're conceived by the human mind to be able to speak mathematics, while time in itself, has never been proven to exist but as a constant or variable in mathematical formulas

it's the perceived observation from forces like gravity and magnetism and whatever causes entropy and the pullback to equilibrium , which sets things in motion but that still doesnt mean time exist ... now the man is ofcourse clinical zakharov faction so he doesnt want to answer because there's no data on it and its all metafysics but its how i see things there, i completely understand what you mean :p

if you're not the type to discard movies for being old i think you would like videodrome a lot too btw

it's sometimes hard to believe in oneself in the middle of a world full of people who were taught how it was but i like to say einstein never let facts get in the way of being right even before he could prove it :p (and then i get a lot of people claiming that means i'm saying i'm like the god of light lol)

see you around (and enjoy)

I am completely with you on the time thing. I have said that many times myself. That is somewhat the premise of my quantum story... There is only Now... There is no then...

But I will raise you a mental thought experiment... What if both time and gravity were extra-dimensional. Basically, not really a part of the universe at all, but just a bleed through from somewhere else... ie. What if the esoteric world, the spirit world, heaven, etc, was the only place where "time" actually existed... and we only perceive time through our soul's connection to that place that actually has time... ie, that would add cred to the whole consciousness creates reality thing because it would mean that we are literally bringing time with us from the other side by viewing the cause and effect timeless world...
