im new to this today , is there a list of all the profiles to choose to follow people on this , how many i wonder 1000s or tens of 1000s

I don't think there is a list. You just have to view a post and, if you like it, follow that person. Any new posts from the people you follow will be shown in your "home" screen (button upper left).
