Are we gonna just act like people weren't acting like it was a Chinese bioweapon? In that very interview with Tom Cotton the interviewer suggests that and Cotton doesn't push back on it (he would later clarify he didn't think it was a bioweapon).
The problem with this discourse is the same as it has always been from the start. People have been getting ahead of the evidence and aren't really interested in the answers because it is their hobbyhorse.
I do remember people in the media/politicians/public health etc dismissing the lab leak as a conspiracy theory though which I never understood because none of them were 100% sure it came from a wet market either. There’s a difference between it being a bioweapon and happening accidentally but from what I could tell very few people were making that distinction.
