18th November is Oman's National Day. Since the time I have settled in this Country I have always seen this day being celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. Oman is comparatively a very small Country and specially on this day one feels like every single person is out of their home wanting to celebrate this day. We very rarely face traffic jams, but on this day, if you get your car on the road then you should leave the watch behind. We had planned to go out for dinner with our family friends. Once we touched the highway the jam started, it was crazy, the 15 minutes road took us almost an hour to reach, but that was still ok. After finishing our dinner way back home, it was 2 hrs, since the road was heavily jammed.
But the enthusiasm of the youths on the road was keeping everyone on the road lively. Also the whole of city was decorated in lights which was giving it a glamorous look. Though this time the lighting were comparatively much lesser than the previous years. There were many on the road standing with the flags, and many in their vehicles waving the flag. The scene truly looked so patriotic, and one can feel how much the people here are in love with their country and the king of the country. There are celebrations in every office as well. Though we do not get a holiday on the National Day itself, but a 2 days holiday is normally given in the last week of November.
I always say that Oman is a very beautiful country and I have shared so many pictures of it in my various blogs. If you see the infrastructure of the Country it will really boggle you down. Under the vision of Sultan this country has flourished in every aspect. Anyone who visits here has a very pleasant feeling. I overall like the vibe of this place. It is very gentle and humble. The local people here stand up to the mark of their Sultan. Expats who have lived here for years do not want to go back to their home as they feel this country is more safe and also provides a very warm home to them.
The Sultan's Palace was lit up and it was a sight to see. All the Trees around the Palace were lit up and it was a beautiful site.
We were late, so we informed at the Restaurant and they were kind enough to keep our table reserved. A cozy family evening.
In the return, we also got a glimpse of the fireworks as a part of the National Day celebrations.
Throughout the city all the trees have lighting around them. It was a beautiful sight.
At my hubby's office they had a Cake cutting ceremony
The people here be it local or expats love their Sultan and we all wish him a healthy long life so that this Country can keep flourishing in leaps and bounds under his leadership.
