About 7 years ago I found this Turtle shell in a Antique store hanging on a wall hanging. This shell is very very old. The guy who sold it said it was a "pre-act" shell meaning it was harvested before it was illegal to do so. I felt that it was inappropriate to hang this shell off the wall like some sort of trophy. So I bought the wall hanging and dismantled it. I took the shell and made it into a war shield and/or dance shield. I honor the turtle in this way. I asked the turtle spirit to protect me and asked him to connect me with my ancestors. I hope his or her spirit dances with me .
