The Mandala/ Dream Catchers represented protection, and a connection with the Native American's creator. The Chippewa and Lakota believed that the sleeping would be protected from bad dreams, and that the round hoop was the circle of life and a symbol of good luck. They were usually made with the skins of the animals that they hunted, and could be decorated with patterns that would show strength or perhaps a victory.
At it's simplest a beautiful piece of art....
For the Native American a sacred circle from there rich history......
I myself am not Native American, but my children are the last legally recognized Cherokee........ :)
