Many will ask, Pemón? what is that?. The Pemón people are an indigenous tribe that lives in the Venezuelan geography, but what really makes them attractive? Their culture is rich in unique stories with characteristics that stand out from other indigenous ethnic groups, their stories are something out of the ordinary, maybe not very well known! For this occasion I want to tell you one of my favorites, titled; The Pemón, the Tiger and the Moon that tells the story of casabe. The casabe is a kind of very thin bread with a circular shape like a moon! from there this story that I will tell you. Enjoy!

The man went to look for water in the river, when he returned to his house he found it all disorganized as if someone had come across a big tiger, the pemon thinking about defending himself immediately jump into the closet where he kept his arms and the tiger without thinking he said I'm not stupid, Pemón! I know you have your power in weapons, that's why I've destroyed them all. The animal stood up and led the man to a nearby bush and challenged him to put his power to the test, after a while, sounds began to sound around the bush and in a single leap the tiger had hunted the animal that was roaming around and He said to Pemón, can you hunt like me? The man answered without my bows and arrows, no! the tiger smiled. They then went to the riverbank and the tiger began to tap the water with his tongue, attracting the fish and from a single manoton grabbed a fish and asked the man, can you do this? and the Pemón said to him, without my networks I can not! to which the tiger responded Now you will have to perform a feat, if I can not imitate you we will remain as a friend and if I succeed I will devour you. The night began to fall and with it some fog, the frightened Pemón ran to the jungle in search of something that only he could do so as not to be devoured by the tiger. The moon was surrounded by clouds and when I observe that one of them covered her she ran in search of a casabe cake and told the tiger Do you know what this is? He answered fiercely. I do not know what it is! and the Pemon immediately answered him Look at the sky Do not you see that the moon has disappeared? The beast looked at the sky and then at the casabe cake. -Ah! You have caught the moon! He exclaimed. Yes, "said the man, and began to eat casabe. The tiger, looking at the taste with which Pemón ate, said:
-It must be tasty to eat moon. The man gave what was left of the casabe cake to the anima, saying:
-Yes, it's good; eat. In a moment, the tiger devoured all the casabe and stayed licking.
"It's a pity it's over," he murmured. It does not matter, "said Pemón. Now another moon will come out.

It is a very simple story but at the same time very symbolic and how ingenious man can lead us to solve situations. These are one of the many stories that I met thanks to Ekare editions and hence my love for this tribe.
