The nativity and Jesus: She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, Matthew 1:21

The nativity is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian faith, and Christmas is the memory of the birth of the Lord Jesus in the city of Bethlehem. With the birth of the Lord Jesus, the pact made between David and God through the prophet Nathan was completed, with the realization of a Kingdom beyond human limitations.
The birth of Jesus was also anticipated by many prophets including Isaiah, when mentioning Jesus as Emmanuel, which means God with us, as the future savior (Isaiah 7:14). Also the prophet Micah, prophesied about Jesus, mentioning a future ruler of Israel born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2).
The birth of our Lord Jesus has a deep spiritual meaning for all Christians. Jesus came to save humanity from its sins and to give a new meaning to human existence, by offering us with his sacrifice on the cross, the spiritual gifts of salvation and eternal life. Jesus came into the world as the "son of man", as the personification of the perfections of God, Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity along with the Father and the Holy Spirit. And about this divine nature of Jesus, God who became man, teaches to us the Gospel of Matthew when Joseph received the mission to care for Jesus in a dream.
This is how the Gospel of Matthew tells us how the birth of Jesus and his spiritual mission was announced to Joseph:
"This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ´Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins" Matthew 1:18-21.
Christmas as spiritual message for mankind, is more than a child in a manger, it is the announcement and the incarnation of God's mercy among men, as it happened to the first devotees of Jesus, his parents.
