Exploring Natural Dental Health | Pt. 5 - Turmeric As Natural Teeth Whitener?

in natural-health •  5 years ago  (edited)

So far we have been exploring the ins and outs of a natural dental health approach featuring simple methods to help improve our mouth's milieu, substitute toothpaste and mouthwash and even swapping out microplastic-toothbrush with one made from bamboo.

However, there is still one thing missing from an alternative approach to everything teeth related that a good friend of mine recently shared with me: And that is how to help our teeth stay white without using any of the toxic toothpastes out there.

It's funny but noone would really suspect Turmeric to be able to help with withening of the teeth. It's an orange root that basically leaves its color anywhere we put it - That is, except for our teeth.

Rather than trying to explain how this could be I simply refer to the fact that many people have reported similar results to what my good friend told me recently with the utmost passion: His teeth are noticeably whiter after brushing them with turmeric for a few days and rinsing them carefully after each session.

The thing is: Turmeric basically stains everything else. Your toothbrush will turn yellow after the first use but more importantly: Your bathroom sink! Do take care of your bathroom sink!

The stains it leaves there can linger for weeks before they go away again so you may want to use a bowl for your teeth.whitening routine or something similar. Van-dwelling hippies may also take the luxury of brushing outside to not stain anything inside.

Turmeric has many benefits when it comes to cleansing. It is said to carry antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, something that comes in rather handy when we are working on achieving a better mouth health overall.

As such, Turmeric as a natural whitening agent is certainly something we could include in our homemade all-natural toothpaste we talked about before. Make that a mixture of baking soda, coconut oil, Xylithol and turmeric. Maybe something else for the taste but hey - beats a toxic toothpaste that pretends to be peppermint while it's actually anyhing but.

For full disclosure I would like to share that I have yet to try Turmeric as a teeth whitener myself. However, given that my teeth have become noticeably darker since my coffee habit got the best of me I feel I have the perfect setup for an experiment. Will gladly share my results here once they are in.

I'm curious, have you ever tried Turmeric to whiten your teeth? And if so how were your results?

Hi, homie! ;)
Some of my friends were using tumeric for whitening their teeth and overal gum/ oral care... Never tried it myself, despite I'm very connected with this plant and love to eat it often on my cooked meals...
I've been using oil~pulling before breakfast (right after waking up from sleep)... and this was in the past... regularly with raw sunflower seed or coconut oil...
AMAZING results I could say... for the whole body and mind.... a lot of energy and detox...
Sadly I'm not into such disciplined mode recently... but I can honestly recomend it :)
btw... using bamboo brush and other household products is very practical as it is anti-bacterial as we know! ;)

Hey brother I missed ya! Thanks for dropping your thoughts here, always good to hear results of people based on the experiential. <3
