Some herbals make valuable tinctures but they don't taste very good.
Other herbals are intended to be used externally only, and can be enhanced by using the right alcohol to make the tincture.
Here's a good alcohol for external tincture Manufacturing. This alcohol comes with added therapeutic materials. This specific alcohol has Wintergreen and epsom salts in the alcohol when purchased. This is good for making tinctures with arnica and comfrey for external use only.
Here is the alcohol I use for external tinctures:
Other herbals are bitter or have bad taste. So some people don't want to use them. You can buy vodka at the store that is flavored and used as flavoring to mask some of the offensive tastes.
I prefer and alcohol that has the flavor whipped cream in it as it masks a lot of taste, like this:
They also make a lot of different flavors of alcohol and vodka is not the only alcohol out there either. There is a alcohol called Irish Mist that has enough alcohol content to be a good tincture. It is a honey based liquor, with all the possibilities that recommends.
So get creative and think outside the box on the tinctures because it does not have to be vodka. And the Vodka doesn't have to be unflavored!
