(UPDATE #1) Witnesses: Who do you vote for and why?

in naturalmedicine •  6 years ago

Thanks everyone who participated with witness recommendations. Here is my updated list with recommendations from my community.

  1. @c-squared because they have been generous in helping me get started. I don't really know much about them though. Advice appreciated.
  2. @quochuy at the recommendation of @digitaldan for their great content in @naturalmedicine and homesteading
  3. @enginewitty at the recommendation of @riverflows for their support of @naturalmedicine
  4. @oracle-d recommend by @llfarms "because they are actually bringing money and business into the platform, which is key for success".
  5. @jackmiller recommended by @enginewitty (no reason given)
  6. @c0ff33a recommended by @enginewitty (no reason given)

These are by no means endorsed by me, but simply a compilation of who my community recommended and why. I'll be digging deeper. If there are folks on this list you think should not be, I'm happy to post that info too.

Please feel free to continue providing recommendations in the comments below and I'll continue to curate this list of witnesses.

I want to thank @llfarms for giving great advice on researching and digging deeper when selecting witnesses. As a newbie to the steem ecosystem I am finding this to be a steep learning curve.

Thanks for the support.

If it helps any, you can follow @witnesspage , where all the posts made by Steem witnesses that contain any of the following relative tags:

#witness
#witness-category
#witness-update

are all resteemed.

That way you will get them all in your feed, or you can just click on the account @witnesspage and check it out from time to time.

Likewise there is a webpage in the making for the same project:

http://www.witnesspage.com

Its main aims are transparency, open and public information, with facts and only facts, no opinions or theories.

I hope that these help out in your efforts to get to know our witnesses a little better.

Thans again,

& Cheers!

Thanks @jackmiller for the additional resources.

Thank you very much for giving me one of your Witness votes, I really appreciate every vote I receive. You do need to look at the Witnesses available and choose the ones you feel benefit you and the Steem Blockchain - helping to increase value and ultimately all our investment in Steem.

What I do as a Witness is support people and communities, I delegate Steem Power to many community projects and also individuals to both encourage and retain content creators.

I fully agree about supporting @oracle-d Witness, they are working incredibly hard in both promoting the Steem Blockchain and bringing investors in - which we do need.

It would be excellent to see more Witness choice posts like this one, it helps the wider community learn more about different Witnesses and of course the importance of using their votes.

Thanks for your hard work.

I believe @steemcafe is a witness that's been very helpful in GHSC as well. I'll have to take a look at my votes, as I've not paid this much attention lately.

Witnesses that are active and helpful in the communities I frequent almost always get my vote. Especially if they're not already in the top 21.

I feel like we ought to explore community witnesses too. Like have an NM witness and a GHSC witness and a Co-op witness, though I know little about conducting such things.

Thanks for your feedback Nate. Could the three communities you mention share a witness? What would be required?

I have no idea. Nodes and nodes and nodes is all I know. Which means servers, which I know nothing at all about lol

But yeah, a collective homesteady witness would be really cool.

Hmmm. I'll look into it. My super tech-nerdy partner might want a new project ;) He's not on Steemit, but thinking about it. I understand witnesses are paid to confirm blocks, and am guessing we (as in he) have the technical know-how...but I don't fully understand the community engagement piece of the puzzle. What would these communities want from a dedicated witness?

Not sure... Probably some kind of development that could support a community SMT. It'd be cool to ask the collective groups that question...

think it's only the top 21 that actually confirm blocks and receive the block reward, but yes, they're paid pretty well. There are theirs of involvement I believe, like the top 21 do something, the top 50 do other things, and thr top 100 do other things for the chain.

You should get him on steem. :)

I saw the offer put out for free steem accounts. I'll check in with him again. He's interested, but doesn't have much free time, and probably would only post sporadically.

My gratitude to witnesses @jackmiller and @c0ff33a for their confidence in me as well as @riverflows. Thank all of you for the recommendations 😎 and thank you @belleamie for hearing them out😁 I would suggest @guiltyparties as he has been on chain for three years and has more experience with its history and development than anyone else I personally know.

Thanks again @enginewitty. I'll add your suggestion to the list.

Congratulations @belleamie! You have completed the following achievement on the Steem blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
