Hello, dear Stemians, in this opportunity, I bring you information about the medicinal properties of Monte Cilantro. This is an aromatic herb very appreciated in the Venezuelan gastronomy. It is often used to flavor stews, grains and soups, especially fish soup.

The cilantro de monte is of South American origin. It is known by the following names: cilantro de monte, cimarron, cilantro de tierra. Although, apparently, they are families, cilantro and cilantro, they do not have the same appearance or the same taste. The first one is usually softer, while that of the cilantro de monte is stronger.

Its leaves are elongated and serrated and give off a characteristic smell. It is possible to grow it in pots. You only need a pot (good size), soil, have an airy and light place and water frequently.

Among its properties it is possible to highlight its high content of iron, potassium, carotene, vitamins A, B1, B2 and C. Among its benefits, we can highlight the following: controls cholesterol and triglycerides, improves digestive processes related to stomach heaviness, opens the appetite, detoxifying and slightly, antibiotic. Other studies suggest that the consumption of this herb can contribute to tranquility, is an antioxidant, controls blood sugar levels. Consuming a good broth, enriched with leaves of this mountain cilantro, during a convalescence, will bring a feeling of well-being to the patient.

To use it in the kitchen, it is enough to chop it finely and throw it a few minutes before removing the food from the fire. To obtain its properties and benefits it is possible to make a tea with its leaves. For this, it will be necessary to take some leaves of cilantro de monte. Put it in boiling water. Let boil for a few minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let stand. Take a cup of this tea.

Particularly, I prefer to enjoy the rich flavor and aroma that it brings to meals, especially to soups. As always, I want to finish this publication, remembering that we should not abuse the consumption of medicinal plants. I recommend, start, little by little, your consumption and suspend when you no longer feel discomfort.
