The mold you see in this pic is called Aspergillus, it is growing on a omelet like food called Arepa, a common meal from Colombia.

The fungus is the green and yellow spots. It grows on all types of cereal based foods, fruits and vegetables, specially when those meals are kept in humid places.

Aspergillus is VERY dangerous to health. It produces aflatoxins, then it can produce liver cancer or a respiratory sickness called invasive lung aspergillosis.

It’s very important to look at the food one put into ones body!!!

Much health to all the steemians!!!

I agree it is really important to know what it is that we are eating, or about to eat. There are many different types of Aspergillus and some are more dangerous than others, this is why it is important to be able to identify them x

As much as i like fungi some kinds are pretty harmful ie death angels.
