Hayfever and accupuncture

Man it is a bad time to be experiencing severe symptoms of hayfever in the time where everyone who sneezes is being looked at as a pariah. 'Sneezingshame' we call it. And that while sneezing isn't even a real symptom of covid-19 but still it is widely associated with it. Red eyes, feeling of fatigue, people are scared of you...And I get it!

So I thought with the results of previous years of experiencing hayfever, I am going to take care of this once and for all and I started with treatment of accupuncture already in January to desensibilize my system. My accupuncturist is a good friend of mine who also worked in the 'normal' medical bussiness, so she knows both sides of all stories. Hardcore medicine and traditional medicine. Winning combo I would say.

Accupuncture to me is really something mystical. Stick a needle in some place to treat a symptom from another place. And it works like a charm for a lot of things and was also working for the early symptoms. The system wasn't having too much problems with the trees which were flourishing, but our friend the grass was yet still to come.

So this week here in Holland is like the worst of the worst for hayfever patients. All grass is blooming like there is no tomorrow, hardly any rain is predicted and the wind is coming from the East which is Germany which is even bringing more pollen to our region.

And I am noticing it I must say with a slight disappointment. I really had hoped that the accupuncture would have taken away all of the symptoms. But this week is really just too much to handle. I've sneezed so much my abdomen hurts from it (which also can tell you something about the condition of my abs) and I look like a crack junky without its crack. People turn away when I am walking by, and that seems like a valid move ;)

But staying inside isn't really a option too me. The weather is too awesome to ignore, so maybe it is time to combine the accupuncure medicine with some traditional pills. Or maybe with a good gin and tonic?

Nehhh unfortunately G&T only works on not making hayfever worse. Because alcohol triggers the makes of histamine which worsens hayfever. So G&T is like the best of the worst, but a liquid diet...Yeah that would have been nice.

I haven't given up on the accupuncture as yet. I am going for the winning cocktail this year of everything!
