Mugwort has been used as a substitute for tea in England during World War two, so it has a lot of unusual uses. It is also used to combat parasites in the GI tract. With low level toxic effects, use should be limited, and use during pregnancy should be avoided.

Mugwort is a common growing plant, that is considered a weed by a lot of people. If you decide to wildcraft this herbal, be sure to stay away from areas that have been sprayed, or are close to roads. Obviously permission for access to the land you intend to wildcraft on needs to be acquired firdt, let's not get anyone shot! A good way to get access to land is to offer the landowner some of the herbs you harvest.

There are minor risks, that need to be understood before you decide to use this herbal. Use this with care

Known hazards of Artemisia vulgaris:
The plant might be poisonous in large doses. Skin contact can cause dermatitis in some people.

We use it a lot

Excellent, it is a newer one for me, so I am still learning the extent of uses for this herbal. I like what I have learned so far about it, but I find that I don't really own an herbal, until I have played with it for about six months. About half that if I ignore wild crafting.

What is your favorite use for Mugwort?

Glad you enjoyed.

:)>

I dry it and rub it fine, then use it as Moxa in my acupuncture routines. It does take a while to get a herb under your skin, 6 months is good going

That Moxa looks HOT, LOL! Cold here, we may get snow in the next two days.... :)

I used to make electronic acupuncture equipment many years ago. It would locate the acupuncture points by measuring nerve conduction. The nodes show up by reduced resistance.

I will try rubbing powdered mugwort on the skin.

:)>

You've got to burn it so the heat penetrates the points. It's great in winter

I am too chicken for the needles, ROFLOL! Is the advantage just the heat, or does Mugwort add something else? It is Winter here now, so maybe....

I know it is hot there, but we may have snow tomorrow here.

Herbal posts are probably my favourite. Thank you for this fascinating read @smithlabs. Mugwort is one of the herbs I hope will one day be available in South Africa. I don't know enough about it but it's on my garden's wish list

We share that problem, I have a large wish list myself, ROFLOL! New herbals are always difficult to source. I learn every day, and i want more to plant.

But garden space is limited....

:'(

The more natural the better...thanks for sharing!

I believe this myself! I am 100% herbal now for medical treatment, and my next goal is to grow all that I need myself. I am about half way there, but I am looking at wild crafting some of the occasional use herbs.

That will allow me to concentrate on the herbals that I need in larger volume, and I will not damage the local wild herbal population by over harvesting.

These plants have been GOD sent for me, and I try to learn more about them, every day!

:)>

Do you sell any of the tinctures, salves, or what have you, Toby?

I don't, but I am planning on sending you some Comfrey Tincture (Late, sorry, I suck!) but what else do you need?

If I have it, it is yours, and I will add it to the package. Just let me know....

:)>

No...no...I wasn't asking for anything! I was just hinting that maybe you could make a little money on the side.

Rats, I was hoping you studied up, and had an herbal need, ROFLOL!

I will be sending you some confrey for your first aid kit, it's good for spider bites. :)

I am just slow, sorry!

:)>

sir smithlabs...uh...this is a dang weed. But, if it can really stop women from complaining then I suggest we start an herbal company and start marketing this stuff.

Good luck on that...stop Women from complaining...ROFLOL!

THAT would be a Million Dollar Miracle Drug! I would buy some myself for certain.

It is a weed, but most herbal are weeds anyway; so that is perfect. St Johns Wort, and Black Cohosh are the two best herbals for the ladies.

:)>

well this one should be a good one for women AND men to use .."used in the treatment of women's complaints." how could anything be better than this one?

St Johns Wort, and Black Cohosh are the two best herbals for the ladies.

That also makes them the best herbals for a Man to go and get, for her! It could save his life, ROFLOL....

:)>

sir smithlabs. so you're all done with Christmas so you come back on here to bother everyone having a nice quiet evening? And besides that, could they think of an uglier name for that mugwort plant?

You caught me badgering these poor people, ROFLOL! No one could have a quiet evening with that guy from Texas bothering them....

On the Mugwort name, what do you think about janton? THAT should scare people!

So did you get presents, or lumps of coal?

:)>

ha! sir smithlabs! for some reason you don't want to answer the question that I've asked about five times so apparently you sucked this year and didn't get anything good. lol..

We didn't do anything for Christmas this year because Mrs. J worked third shift on Christmas Eve, then Christmas Day and now tonight from 6pm to 6am so that's fine, we have no family down here anyway and no kids around so maybe we'll have people come here next year unless she has to work again. She wanted to work because of the overtime so it was a nice gift to her in that way.

Just lumps of coal, and a bundle of switches, ROFLOL!

OUCH, Mrs J is a Nurse, Oh No! Debbie was a nurse, so I understand the danger. Nurses really know how to Hurt you, even while they are smiling! :)

Overtime is always nice, but don't let her wear herself out! Someone needs to smack you down from time to time; and she is up to it
