A decade ago, vitamin D achieved superstar status in the nutrition community.
Image from article:
Claims were wide and far reaching, but scientific support is unclear. It seems to help with Multiple Sclerosis, and bone calcuim absorption. There is proof that vitamin D does help with a problem that is not common called rickets.
Nutritionists are in agreement on vitamin D helping bones by better calcium absorption, but they disagree on how that actually happens.
Here is a good article on what vitamin D actually does in the Body, and has a lot of good information:
https://www.sciencenews.org/article/vitamin-d-supplements-lose-luster
All vitamins are important, and should be a regular part of supplements used to assist the Standard American Diet (SAD)
So do not stop taking vitamin D just because some exaggerated claims were made, the vitamin D is still needed.
There is also good science that Vitamin D (combined with calcium) does fight Cancer, reducing risk in post metopausal women by 50%, referenced in this article:
https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/85/6/1586/4633053
Science supports reduced cancer risk in a broad set of cases refernced here:

Bottom line, good nutrition is a noble goal. The Body works better when it has the required supplies it needs to heal damage when damage occurs. The best source of nutrition is as close to fresh as possible, so use naturally extracted vitamins and supplements. Better yet, eat the plants that contains these vitamins, in their raw form, and get them all! I am having to rely on naturally extracted vitamins myself, because I do not have the fortitude or the time, for the raw veggies right now!
If I can get you to consider natural supplements, my time spent here was worth it.

And the prescription vitamin D does absolutely nothing, while several I bought online (liquid D3 with K2) brought my son's (who has not seen the sun for 4 years) vitamin D levels up into the normal range easily, just by taking a few drops a day for a couple weeks. Now to keep him in the normal range on blood tests only takes a few drops a week.

Sorry, I don't use their vitamin D, I get good stuff. Seems to be working well. I am glad it is helping your Son!
They have lamps that simulate normal vitamin D production. I have been thinking about them for Debbie.
I am sore from the homeless meal feeding yesterday, so today I am rubbing comfrey on the sore muscles! :)
Be blessed!

I am making very good use of the comfrey myself! I love the stuff! Thank you.
I have one of those lamps which we tried to get circadian rhythms back on track - didn't think it made any difference for that, and they are uncomfortably bright. If she can get outside, that is 1000 times better.

You don’t have to go into too much detail but what has kept your son indoors for that long? That sounds difficult!
The whole plant vitamins are so much better we tried one and it was incredible

Glad it is helping you! It is a healing accelerant based on the compound Allentoin found in the comfrey roots. That i shard to extract from the woody roots without breaking it down with heat. Keep the temperature low, add distilled water as needed, stir as much as possible, for about 2 weeks. The darker the liquid, the better.
It also penetrates about 12 inches deep.
It also works on brown recluse spider bites. It heals faster than the venom can destroy the affected tissue.
The light does sound interesting, She does not get out much....

But my doctor does not recommend eating vitamin D, as it is necessary to constantly do a blood test.
The doctor advised to eat fatty fish every day.

Thanks for the read! I love the @naturalmedicine tag. I meet a lot of good people here.
Debbie's Doctor prescribed 5000 units a day . I have found that good quality, naturally extracted vitamins are easily handled by the body. Toxic problems with both A and D only seem to occur with man made vitamins.
I have taken heavy doese of good vitamins for several decades, and my Doctor hates my blood tests. They never follow what he thinks of as normal, and he is always checking tox levels. It is kind of fun to drive him nuts, LOL!
Fish is always good; Be Blessed!
