Welcome to another day of the #botanicalgardentours. Today I want to present to you the Cuphea Ignea, also known as the Cigar Plant.

Herzlich willkommen zu einem weiteren Tag mit den #botanicalgardentours. Heute möchte ich euch die Cuphea Ignea vorstellen, die auch als Zigarettenblume bekannt ist.

The Cigar Plant is an annual plant that is native to central america and can get as high as 30 cm. The blossoms is from april to october and the 3 cm long tube shaped blossom has a beautiful orange-red colour. This plant demands a lot of light and temperatures above 7 °C, optimal are 15 - 20 °C, but can not withstand the direct sun. The narrow and elliptic leaves have a dark-green and glossy colour.

Die Zigarretenpflanze ist eine einjährige Pflanze, die in Mittelamerika heimisch ist und bis zu 30 cm hoch werden kann. Die Blütezeit ist von April bis Oktober und die 3 cm lange röhrenförmige Blüte hat eine schöne orangerote Farbe. Diese Pflanze benötigt sehr viel Licht und Temperaturen über 7 °C, optimal sind 15 - 20 °C, verträgt aber nicht die direkte Sonne. Die schmalen und elliptischen Blätter haben eine dunkelgrüne und glänzende Farbe.
