It is today! The day of animals, the most wonderful beings in our world, living with us on land and (mostly without us) into water all over the globe! π

World Animal Day was established in 1931 at the ecological convention in Florence and begins the World Animal Week lasting until October 10. The date is not accidental, because the holiday is celebrated every year on October 4, the day of remembering in the universal Church of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of animals, ecologists and ecology, who lifed with the idea of ββthe brotherhood of all creatures. Celebrations of the Day are aimed at changing people's behavior towards animals and making them aware that an animal is a living thing, not "just a thing" and they have their own rights. During the celebrations, the organizers draw the attention of the society to the fate of homeless animals, talk about the usually difficult living conditions of animals in shelters, call for sterilization of stray animals - especially dogs and cats, condemn animal abuse, warn against illegal animal breeding, and pay attention for training dogs for dogs fights, where animals become victims of human profit or aggression. Every year, during the World Week of Animals, Society for the Care of Animals encourages people to adopt animals by organizing Open Door Days in the shelters.
I also encourage you to adopt animals, and if you can't afford it or already have your own pets - to support shelters or pro-animal organizations in their struggle for a better life for all the animals that they care for.
Living with animals is simply better, nicer, fuller - don't take away the world in which they are next to us and faithfully accompany us by giving us all your heart! β€
If you want, share your photos of your pets - I am waiting for your photos! Show off your pooch, cat, horse, hamster or even aquarium fish!
