We Have discussed About Igneous Rocks in our last blog today we will discuss about the further Classification of igneous rocks.
The Igneous Rocks are further classified as
1)Plutonic rocks
2)Hypae-bysal rocks
3)Volcanic Rocks
- Plutonic Rocks
Rocks formed due to the cooling of magma at a considerable depth from earths surface. The structure of these rocks is crystalline and coarse grained as it is formed due to slow cooling. The thick covering of earth crust at the top us responsible for the slow cooling. Stone obtained from Plutonic rock is most commonly used in building construction work. Example: Granite, diorite, syenite, gabbro etc.
Granite
Diorite
Syenite
Gabbro
2)Hypa-byssal rocks
These rocks are formed due to the cooling of magma at a shallow depth from the earths surface the cooling is quicker than Plutonic rocks and slower than volcanic rocks.Since rate of cooling quicker than Plutonic rocks and slower than volcanic rocks.sunce rate of cooling is not as fast as in case if volcanic rocks, the structure of resulting is fine garined and crystalline.
Example:-dolorite,dolomite,apite etc.
Dolorite
Dolomite
Apite
3)Volcanic Rock
These rocks are formed due to cooling of magma at surface of earth. The rate of cooling of cooling is quicker hence they are non crystalline, amorphous and glossy in texture. The top layer of such rock is quite smoothy and shiny.
Example:- Basalt, rhyolite,andesite,trap etc.
Basalt
Rhyolite
Andesite
Trap
Today We Have totally covered the igneous rocks with examples and it's types.
In next topic we will study about the sedimentary rock.
See You soon again.
