ENDANGERED SPECIES !!!!

Extinction is not a new event on the planet. The activities of man and the numerous ways in which they exploit our ecological system and nature for more benefits certainly have created a wide void in our realm of nature. Ever once imagined what it would be like if our environment was free from noise pollution. Air pollution from vehicles, generators and so many engines consuming petroleum products. An environment with lots of flowers that create a fresh atmosphere, full forests with enough green plants to protect our ozone layer and to protect us from the damage of UV rays.

Don't get me wrong. The invention of these are devices are essential to the human race as they have made adaptation and survival more beneficial. But the side effects of these can be minimized can't they ?

Today I am going to be listing a few of our numerous endangered species. Not to list the already extinct ones.
The animals to be precise due to are endangered in the sense that they face extinction due to changing environments, loss of their homes or increase in the number of predators or more importantly lack of genetic variations.
Let's take a look at the few I have noted

THE AMUR LEOPARD

SOURCE

Everyone believes that leopard's are majorly found in African Savannas. But somewhere far in the Russian far east are a rare specie that has adapted to the north. They are also called the Manchurian Leopard and just like the Leopard's, the Amur's can run an estimate of 37 miles per hour. It is very strong and hides unfinished feed from other predators. These species are nearly extinct due to poaching for their beautiful spotted fur.

CROSS RIVER GORILLA

SOURCE

The Gorilla's have always been wary of humans as they live in a more rugged habitat. The encroachment into their habitat by clearing more fields to create agricultural space and by poaching had gravely endangered this specie. The similarities between the Western Gorilla's and the Western lowland Gorilla's has been found in the head and tooth dimensions.

VAQUITA

SOURCE

The World's most rare marine animal. on the verge of extinction due to illegal fishing operations. The Vaquita's are majorly found close to the shore of the Gulf's shallow waters. They posses a large dark ring under their eyes and a dark patches on it's lips that forma thin line from the mouth to the pectoral fins. The newborn's have a darker coloration and a wide grey fringe of color that run from the head to the dorsal flukes passing through the dorsal and pectoral fin.

ORAGUTAN

SOURCE

Their distinctive reddish fur, these arboreal mammals are also called MAN OF THE FOREST in Malay language. They make nests in trees to sleep at night and rest during the day and they feed on wild fruits like figs, lychees and mangosteens. Flanged males have cheek pads called flanges and a throat sac used to make loud vocal noises called LONG CALLS. The unflanged males look like adult females and can change to flanged due to various reasons not fully understood by scientists. Their extremely low reproductive rate make their species vulnerable.

THE BLACK RHINO

SOURCE

Black rhinos are the smaller of the two African rhino species. The most notable difference between white and black rhinos are their hooked upper lip. The white Rhino's posses square lips. The black Rhino's posses horns and are more endangered due to poaching and trafficking of Rhino horns.

YANGTZE FIN-LESS PORPOISE.

SOURCE

This specie of Dolphins used to live in the Yangtze river. The longest river in Asia together with the Baiji Dolphin. In 2006 the Baiji was declared extinct. An entire species of Dolphins just wiped away due to human activities. The Yangtze following suite is facing extinction. This Dolphin is known for it's mischievous smile.

RED PANDA

SOURCE

Tricky acrobatic animals that live on the trees of the Himalayas face extinction. They being poached for their pelts in China and Myanmar. Their caps are being sold in Bhutan.

THE GREEN TURTLE.

SOURCE

The only herbivore turtle. They are found in the tropical and sub tropical waters. Like other sea turtles they migrate long distances from where they are hatched. These species are being endangered due to being accidentally caught in shrimp trawl nets, on long line hooks and in fishing gill nets. Sea turtles need to reach the surface to breathe, and therefore many drown once caught. Known as by catch, it is a serious hazard for green turtles.

There are more endangered species in our world today and these are only a few to mention. The Saola, South China Tiger, African Wild Dog, Bengal Tiger, Bonobo, Blue Whale and a lot more.

Hope you get the message, so when next you attempt to kill an ant, remember,
