Cape Town officials are urging citizens and city visitors to save water because their fountains can dry out by April.

To prevent this crisis, the water regime, which is not something new in the African capital, is tightening. Instead of the currently allowed 87 liters per day, citizens will be able to use a maximum of 50 liters a day from next month.
"Only 95 Days Left to Day Zero",
says Mayor of the city Patricia de Lille. And what does Day Zero represent? This is the moment when most of the cranes in the city will be stopped and citizens will have to queue for 25 liters of water per day.

For comparison, in Bulgaria, households in cities use an average of over 100 liters of water per day.
The authorities in Cape Town are doing their best
to prevent the crisis. They are looking for new ways of water purification and the extraction of more groundwater.
The main problem, however, is that no matter how hard it is to work in the direction of supplying more water, the spending of the available is outpacing these processes. For the past week, only 39 percent of Cape Town's 4 million population have managed to get within the limit of 87 liters of water per day.

Under the new restrictions coming into effect next month, 10 minutes in a shower would mean a full daily amount of water.
In order for a person to fit in a 50 liter limit per day and have some drinking water, he should take a shower once a day for no more than 2 minutes, let the water on the toilet only once, wash the plates in the sink once, wash their hands twice and cook once.
The Cape Town region is undergoing a very dry period
In May 2017, the West Cape Province was declared an extremely threatened area after the authorities reported that the drought in the region had reached a scale worse since 1904.

Africa may well be far away, but if we do not use water wisely, this future expects every other city in the world sooner or later.
