Camping bliss

Nothing says summer like a good old fashioned campfire. Summers in central Canada are rather short so we try to squeeze every ounce out of the beautiful prairie days! There arent many days here when the wind isnt blowing 50 miles/hr. When we get a nice calm evening we do our best to spend it outside enjoying all nature has to offer! The kids love to ride their bikes around the park, meeting up with old friends, making new friends and that makes it even better for us parents to indulge in the peace and quiet while the kids are away playing. It is also a real social event. Once the sun sets we jump in the golf cart and cruise the grounds to see who's got the best campfire to settle around for the night. Sitting around telling stories, having many laughs sometimes playing a friendly game of bean bags or bones.
Waking up the in the morning and quietly sneaking out as to not wake the kids so I can sit outside and enjoy my coffee and listen to the early birds chirping rather than the nagging sounds of kids fighting. Then once everyone is up and fed, we'll head down to the lake with the boat to partake in another popular past time, FISHING! This usually involves a few leeches or worms being tossed about the boat and at least one fishing rod finding its eternal home at the bottom of the lake. I swear I should invent a floating fishing rod!
Once we've all had our fill of jigging the lines and having minimal luck getting any fish in the boat we'll reel in all the lines and toss out the tube to pull the kids around the lake. We do our best to try and dump them in the water but they can hang on pretty tight!
As I said our summers are short but we sure do our best to enjoy the summer days every chance we get!!
