Daily Nature Fix: Going-to-the-Sun Road. (Original Photos)

Hello there. For tonight's Daily Nature Fix, I'll be sharing a few photos from what is easily the most scenic road we have ever driven: Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park. Some of you have probably heard of it before. I heard the name before our trip, but I didn't really know anything about it. Well, it went from that to something I'd never forget in about 2 hours flat.

The road is just about 50 miles long, but has some of the most amazing views from nearly beginning to end. Now, you may have noticed I said "2 hours" in the last paragraph... that's because we stopped SO much to take photos.

At one point in the 50-mile trek, the road reaches an elevation of over 6,600 feet. Unfortunately, a mountain pass that high often get's snowed in and closes the road until they can clear it out. It was actually closed during the first part of our trip in early September, but we got lucky and they opened it up two days before we left. The views from those peaks are stunning.

In my opinion, it offers some of the best views of the Rocky Mountains.... but I really need to get to it's Canadian sister park of Banff, especially after seeing so many of @daveks photos form there.

The road itself has some cool features as well. My favorite being the tunnel that's shown in the photo above. Another cool man-made element was this stone bridge that looks like it may have been made during the 1930's during the WPA program. That's just an assumption and I don't really feel like looking it up... but I've seen other work by the WPA that looks very similar.

greetings friends, it's a joyful trip, and also beautiful pictures, good shots, keep your friends, good luck😱👍👍

My favorite picture is the tunnel.

Seriously cannot wait to see this place for ourselves

This drive and Glacier have been on my list for a long time! The photos are great. I've heard horror stories of older toyota rvs actually not being able to handle the climb at all. I'll probably risk it one day!

Great pictures, as usual!
That tunnel is amazing, but the stone bridge is unreal!!!
