Daily Nature Fix: Misty Mountains in Iceland. (Original Photos)

Hello fellows nature fans.  Today's Daily Nature Fix is a few photos taken along the southern coast of Iceland.  These are from our latest trip there and all of them were taken out of the car window as we zipped down the highway.  It's easy to post some of the incredible sights to see in Iceland as there are dozens and dozens of notable locations, but one of the best things about the country is that almost EVERYWHERE is incredibly scenic.  This small series of pictures tries to showcase that, a bit.  Unnamed locations passed as you drive down the road.

While clear, blue skies and beautiful weather is preferred, dark and over cast days give a cool vibe to Iceland.  The clouds seem to come right down to the ground and perfectly compliment the green grass and mosses, and black rock landscape.  The misty cloud/fog will be featured in all of these.

^^^One of my favorites.  Love the super jagged, pointy stone peaks showing through the fog.

As I mentioned, these were taken while driving along Route 1 in the south; a roughly 280 mile long stretch between Reykjavik in the west and Hofn in the east.  An interesting thing to add is that many times, you'll come upon a scene like the one above, but then round the bend at the end of a mountain ridge, like this one, and the other side is perfectly clear and sunny!

This one has a glacier bonus!  Glaciers start to pop up as you approach the town of Vík, which is pretty much in the south center of the country.  Don't hold me to this statement, but I THINK the glacier pictured is part of Mýrdalsjökull.
