Daily Nature Fix: Pastel Sunset at the Sea Stacks. (Original Photos)

Hello gang. You made it through Monday... hope it's the start to a great week for everyone. If you guys missed the winners of the Abandoned Shit Weekly contest, make sure you check it out for some awesome stuff: https://steemit.com/aswcontest/@customnature/abandoned-shit-weekly-contest-2-homes-the-winners.
Now then, for tonight's Daily Nature Fix, I'll be sharing a few photos of a sunset we had on our last trip to Iceland, earlier last month. We were in the south near the town of Vik and on their famous black-sand beach called Reynisfjara. The nearby mountain is made up of volcanic basalt rock and has created a few sea stacks from centuries of erosion. Those sea stacks are known as Reynisdrangar.

Our whole time here was pretty mystical feeling. In winter, there is only around 4 hours of real sunlight... but sunset and sunrise last for like 2 hours each. Everything as cast in a crazy blueish/pinkish glow.

Oh, back to those sea stacks quick. The local folklore about them is that several trolls were hauling a ship onto shore when the sun rose above the horizon and turned them into stone. The stacks are rocky remains of the unfortunate trolls. Speaking of the sun rising above the horizon, here's a another photo of the colorful clouds from a bit earlier than the last two photos.

The first photo looks like it's out of a fairytale

For real, right? That's what Kylene kept saying pretty much the whole time we were here.

This looks like a place not on this planet. So beautiful!! Thanks for sharing :)

No problem, glad you enjoyed it!

Iceland so raw and rugged, love it.

What a fabulous first photo, dude! I love the tones and the mood - it looks like a landscape from another world :) When would be the best time to visit Iceland?

By the way, I am thinking of joining the contest in the coming weeks :)

My wife and I agree that summer is still the best time to visit the country. There's so much more to see and do, and the days are much longer.... actually they never end. It never gets dark, really. BUT, going back during winter is definitely worth doing.

I am considering going there soon, so I may get back to you for advice :) Cheers!

Certainly! Hit me up. We've gone four times now. I've gotten somewhat familiar with the place.

Those rock formations are amazing. Great capture!

I love them. They're so iconic for the town of Vik.

very beautiful sunsets

Iceland looks incredible! Well done.

Oh, it is incredible! This was our 4th trip there. It has so much to see!

Nice one Bro.
Keep it up🐸

Beautiful scenery! The first image is downright surreal and it reminds me of the Arrival movie.

I listened to this while looking at the image and it made perfect sense. :)

Ha! That was a great movie.

Amazing colors! These photos make me want to travel there even more )

I highly recommend it!

good morning before the mate keep spirit friend

How did I miss this one?! I remember you telling us the troll story in person, it makes it extra special! I'm curious what time you took the photos?

These photos were taken right at the tail end of sunlight, between 4 - 4:45ish. It made the whole area feel crazy!

I really like the first shot, very soft and good use of contrast .Congrats!
