Among my interests there is the world of wines, I live in Piemonte(Italy) and I am from Puglia(Italy), so I saw many grapes fields, but last year I had a big surprise from those plants, somewhere in the world it showed itself in a never seen version, in hundreds of years old style. I was in an island surrounded by the ocean and there the filossera, a devastating insect that destroyed many fields at the end of 1800 ac in Europe, didn't land, granting the existence of the plants. The cultivation of the grapes started after a volcanic eruption in 1700 ac that lasted years and destroyed all the cultivations, the “campesinos” worked hard so that the plants could produce fruits again, creating a unique landscape.

May 2016, Lanzarote, land of volcanoes and winds, but of grape fields too, that are very particular. We were on this Island to meet some dear friends. The impact is huge, it is a very particular island, not for the common visitor, either you love it or you hate it. The barrenness is almost everywhere, with the exception of the all inclusive businesses, most of the island is covered by the volcanic lapilli that is there since the last big eruption. You could imagine anything but that grape fields that found a perfect habitat, it obviously took the men's intelligence, that has improved the technique, the result is amazing.

I wrote this some time ago on my FB page:

“Our daughter still to be born, our son among the special people who take care of him, me and my wife enjoy some peace in this particular place that can still astound. Thirty steps(of my own) to get around a grape plant that is around 200 years old and that, to the eyes of someone that knows Italian grape plants, where a plant is considered to be old after 50 years, it looks like a total different plant, but the fruits are there, hanging from the plant, showing that there is no old age to produce, and then there are the younger plants in fields filled with holes, holes that are 1 meter deep and wide like my living room, digged in the black terrain left by the eruption that covers everything, even the plants's roots. There is a little wall on the side of the hole that protects the plants from the strong winds that constantly run through the island, a multi color landscape that even the iPhone 19 could not afford, a landscape that shows how much effort men made to accomplish it. A landscape that shows limits are often in the heads of people without imagination, a place for the people who loves wines, just 30 minutes here are worth the ticked to travel, and then there is more to be seen on the island!"
