Echidna is a wonderful and bizarre creature that looks like a cross between badger, a porquipine and anterror. They are a monotreme, a type of primitive mammal that gives eggs instead of giving birth to live children, just like their famous relatives, Platypus.
It can also be difficult to find these animals in the wild, because they are small, mostly at night, and live out of a distance and live alone. Many species of Echidna are also very endangered - one sad fact is that these animals are roaming on Earth for 17 years or more.
If you want to see a live Echidna closer, then your best bet is one of many zoos in New Zealand, Tasmania and Australia that makes them home. They can be found at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Hobart, Australia Zoo in Basmaniya, Queensland and at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
