Hello, i want to introduce you to the world of Gemstones. Read and learn Fact and pictures about this Precious stones.

Do you know what a gemstone is? Gemstones have many different names. Sometimes, people call them gems. Sometimes, people call them jewels. Sometimes, people call them precious stones. Whatever you call them, gemstones are awesome!

According to Wikipeda, A gemstone (also called a gem, fine gem, jewel, precious stone or semi-precious stone) is a piece of mineral crystal which, in cut and polished form, is used to make jewelry or other adornments.

Gemstones are classified into different groups, species, and varieties. For example, ruby is the red variety of the species corundum, while any other color of corundum is considered sapphire. Other examples are the Emerald (green), aquamarine (blue), red beryl (red), goshenite (colorless), heliodor (yellow), and morganite (pink), which are all varieties of the mineral species beryl.

Gems are characterized in terms of refractive index, dispersion, specific gravity, hardness, cleavage, fracture, and luster. They may exhibit pleochroism or double refraction. They may have luminescence and a distinctive absorption spectrum.

When we find gemstones in the ground, they are not cut or polished. They look very different! They are not shiny or smooth. They don't look like gemstones at all! But once they are cut and polished, they can be very beautiful.

FACT AND PICTURES OF SOME GEMSTONES

1 EMERALD

Emeralds are gem-quality specimens of the beryl mineral family with a rich, distinctly green color.

2 SAPPHIRE

Sapphire is a gem variety of the mineral corundum. When corundum is reddish blue to violet-blue, it is known simply as "sapphire." Corundums of any other color (except red, which is ruby) are known as "fancy sapphire.

3 RUBY

The most desired variety of corundum is the ruby. The red color is produced by trace amounts of chromium in the mineral.

4 ZIRCON

Zircon is a popular gemstone that has been used for nearly 2000 years. It occurs in a wide range of colors and has a brightness and fire that rivals those of diamond. Colorless zircon is sometimes used as a lower-cost alternative for diamond.

5 GARNET

Most people think that garnet is a red gemstone. However, garnet occurs in a wide variety of colors. Clockwise from the top left: red almandine (Madagascar), green tsavorite (Tanzania), yellow mali (Mali), orange spessartite (Mozambique), pink malaya (Tanzania), green merelani mint (Tanzania), red pyrope (Ivory Coast), green demantoid (Namibia), purple rhodolite (Mozambique), and orange hessonite (Sri Lanka). Seven out of eight of the garnets below are from Africa, the relatively new source of spectacular garnets.

6 TOURMALINE

Tourmaline is the name of a large group of boron silicate minerals that share a common crystal structure and similar physical properties - but vary tremendously in chemical composition

I saw some thought provoking content here you might like

Just the other day, I found myself captivated by the world of gemstones. These colorful, precious, and symbolic stones have a history that's as fascinating as their appearance. I stumbled upon a website, GEmsvana , which has been a treasure trove of information. It has a well-organized layout and a wealth of knowledge without being pushy or promotional.
