National Park "Nikko" in the vicinity of the city of the same name, the Japanese consider one of the main natural treasures of their country. It is located 125 km from Tokyo and is great for a one-day or two-day excursion outing from the capital. Sanctuaries, temples and bridges scattered throughout its territory are in harmony with beautiful landscapes from plateaus, waterfalls, rivers and lakes. "Nikko" is beautiful at any time of the year, so it is always crowded. In the spring they come here to admire the blooming of a rare local cherry blossom with golden, rather than familiar pink petals. And in the autumn - to find a fascinating "flame" of withering maples.
The local flora - the richest coniferous and deciduous forests, alpine meadows and shrubs - is the natural habitat of roe deer, wild boar, spotted deer, white-bearded bear. Live here and macaque, as well as many feathered, especially green and copper pheasants.
The main attraction point of the national park is Lake Tudzendzi, the highest in the country, it is located at an altitude of 1269 m. The reservoir was formed after the eruption of a volcano that blocked the flow of local rivers. The result of this natural state of emergency can be seen at the southern tip of the lake: the spectacular 97-meter Kegon waterfall, however.
As in most Japanese parks, Nikko did not do without temple complexes and sanctuaries. The largest of them are: the Tosegu complex with the tomb of the famous ruler Ieyasu Tokugawa; Externally similar to it the Taiyuan sanctuary of the 17th century and the temple of Takinoo - a popular pilgrimage place for women from all over Japan. All around the park there are souvenir shops and small cafes - there are no problems with the infrastructure.
Wow, what a picture! I want to go to Japan sometime. You have a new follower by the way :)
