[Graphic content] What is wrong with this rabbit's head?

This rabbit has been hopping around our neighborhood. From a distance it looks like there is something wrong with its head.

So I grab my camera and lens to zoom in and get a better picture.

What is wrong with this poor guy's head?! Its gross.
