Cat's Tongue Fungus

Cat's tongue is a translucent, toothed mushroom which is perfectly fine to pick up and toss in your mouth. Refreshingly packed with water, a delightful find on any hike. If you go out just after it freezes in the fall you can find these frozen like popsicles!

Kids love finding and eating these, along with witch's butter, a bright orange jelly and another trail-side favorite of all ages.

Black Cup Fungus

Considered inedible, it has no particular taste or odor, just probably a bit tough and chewy. Not poisonous though, at least to humans, so if someone is adventurous, go ahead and try it.

This one was probably about 1"-1.5" diameter.
