Last year December I promised my brother - in-law a bunny as a gift. This I finally fulfilled in January. The Checkered breed was so beautiful and had fluffy. Happy I was when I got the bunny. So I gave him a call that his rabbit was ready, we both went to my house to pick up.
Earlier before then. The rabbit seller kept the bunny in a punctured hole brown carton for air to Pass through. No one was home to take care of it and I had to step out. I fed the bunny, kept it underneath the dinning table to be picked up by my brother in law when he comes visiting.
We both got home, happy as I was to present to him the beautiful rabbit. We all got the scare of our lives. We found the bunny neck torn apart, the eyes socket eaten, the intestines eaten and the food I kept in the carton eaten completely (which I knew the bunny couldn't finish). The tail and head was wrung out of the carton.
Screaming out in shock I couldn't hold back the fears, disappointment, the terror the rabbit must have gone through.
So we began to ask ourselves. What could have killed the rabbit inside the house not outside since we have bushes nearby.
All thoughts came to mind but none could fit into this puzzle. Until my brother in law mentioned that Its a territorial rat.
Let's recap, for a month we have been enduring and tried to kill a big smelly rat in the house. Tried several poisons, this rat ate fresh tomatoes we place on the refrigerator every night, broke 4 ceramic plates which were on the sink by pushing them down. It pulls plates into hidden corners with spoons and food wrappers with it. So you can imagine the pain and stress we went through coz of this rat. That has refused to leave.
It killing my rabbit, due to been territorial. Got me worried. This made me remember how we used to perceive a bad odour. I got to know it was it's urine. The rat saw the poor innocent bunny that was less than two months a threat to it. So decided to kill and tear apart it's flesh. The rabbit must have tried escaping but no one was home to perceive there was a problem.
This shook us all... The next day I went all out tried more poisons yet no worked for the rat. Until I remembered ‘indocide " my mom used it to kill rats that were in our home when I was Small. So I dashed into pharmacy and got myself one.
In anger I added a whole satchet of the drug to a beans meal. I dropped in every corner of the kitchen and it's hiding place. By this time it had given birth to more rats their cries annoys me. So I poisoned the rat and lo and behold for a week we didn't see the rat until we began to perceive something dead.
Yeah! Now the Dead rat babies are roaming freely. Planning their death soon. So fed up.
Am I on this alone? Rats can't rule our homes.
Be careful of them they are dangerous.
