A wild plant that recently invoked my curiosity is Balloon plant (Botanical name- Gomphocarpus Physocarpus). It's also commonly known as Cotton bush and Bishop's balls.. and is a species of milk weed. It's balloon-like outgrowths are light-weight fruits which contain seeds and produce cotton upon maturity. The plant is used for ornamental purposes and its fruits are food for butterflies.
