I took this picture a few weeks ago early in the morning. Hence the almost all white sky. It is located on the Ravelin which is part of the Cittadella in Victoria Gozo.
The Cittadella dates back to way before the Knights Templar in the 17th century so sometime between the 17th century and now. Obviously, it is not that old a tree however, I have not been able to find out anything about its age. In recent years the whole of the Cittadella has been restored and sometime before this the Ravelin was restored so perhaps the tree was planted over the past 30 years. Who Knows. It is an interesting tree regardless of its age.
I find the branch coming forward to have an amazing span considering it is completely exposed and very high winds batter it regularly.
I almost have enough photographs to do a number of posts about the Cittadella since its restoration. I arrived on the island too late to photograph its original condition.
