To limit global warming, CO2 emissions need to be reduced as much as possible.
Researchers are looking for solutions to limit as much as possible harmful carbon dioxide emissions. They have managed to invent a tree-like power plant: CO2 absorbs directly from the air. This harmful gas is then turned into stone. The company that succeeded in this project is called Climeworks. The geothermal plant was inaugurated on October 11 in Iceland and is the first carbon-negative system. The amount of carbon that can be removed through this small plant is only 50 tonnes per year. However, performance is great because it is obvious that the system works.
Carbon is turned into stone, so it can not get back into the atmosphere. There are other companies that have similar projects, but the problem is the huge cost of running. Thus, for the removal of one tonne of CO2, the cost starts at $ 50 and can even reach $ 1,000.Therefore, given the huge amount of carbon dioxide that should be absorbed from the atmosphere, costs would be impossible to bear if they can not be reduced.
