Governor Receive Tropical Forest Alliance Team Visit

Banda Aceh - Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf Receive the visit of Tropical Forest Alliance Team (TFA) 2020 and IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative at the meeting of Governor of Aceh on Monday (26/02/2018).

Erwin S Widodo, Southeast Asia Regional FTA Coordinator, said that TFA is a global partnership that brings together government, private and community stakeholders in efforts to combat deforestation or deforestation.

Currently, Erwin said, there is no region in Indonesia and even Southeast Asia which is part of TFA. for that, he really hopes the Aceh Government with the concept of Aceh Green could be a pioneer in Southeast Asia in an effort to combat deforestation.

"We want Aceh to be the first region to become part of the FTA to become an example for other regions," said Erwin.
Meanwhile, IDH Director Fitrian Ardiansyah said that as one of FTA's partners, IDH is ready to assist the government, private sector and society in some sectors such as forestry, agriculture, fisheries.

"Some of the commodities that we support to be more sustainable in the future such as, palm, coffee, cocoa fish cultivation, spices and so forth," said Fitrian

Some of the proposed programs to the Government of Aceh Fitrian said, such as helping businesses and communities to increase productivity and ability to preserve.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf strongly supports the efforts made FTA and IDH to realize forest conservation and prevent deforestation during the program offered can be applied and run in accordance with the current condition of Aceh.

Irwandi asked FTA and IDH to conduct guidance to the community and to help people earn alternative income so that they do not do illegal logging.

"I am also very happy if FTA and IDH are helping the Aceh government to re-verify the boundaries used by oil palm companies in Aceh," said Irwandi.

To follow up the cooperation, said Irwandi, will soon be drawn up by the MoU between the Government of Aceh, FTA and IDH to prepare the steps and cooperation that will be done in Aceh.

The meeting was also attended, Head of Aceh Environment Department, Saminuddin, To Bureau of Economic Setda Aceh, Raudhi, Head of Public Relations and Protocol Secretary of Aceh, Mulyadi Nurdin and a number of other relevant officials.
