Rare HALO in the Skies. I have never experienced anything like this before.

Have you ever seen anything so amazing in the skies?
This was not something I have ever heard of or seen anywhere, so when my sons came running home to show me the amazing Halo in the sky while living in El Salvador in 2012. We all looked outside from our backyard and when we looked at it, I almost fell to my knees, I had no idea what it was, and to tell you the truth I thought it was the end of the word or some kind of UFO showed up, because it looked so dark and the Halo was so amazingly big, which you cannot really see on this picture.

I really felt scared and none of us really knew what it was, till my 13 year old son told us it was Halo. The reason he knew this is because he played the Halo video games and he has seen some Halos in the game. I guess the games could be good for something and you can learn a lot of things from your kids.

I absolutely will remember this day forever and I feel grateful to have been able to experience this amazingly beautiful part of nature and Gods creation.

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS HALO?

Halo is a large optical phenomenon which belongs to the crystal halos family in a ring form with a radius of approximately 22° around the Sun or Moon. It is formed when the sun or the moon is refracted in millions of ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.
Halos can vary in different shapes and colors, but the best known halo type is the circular halo which is called the 22° Halo. There are also Sun Dogs Halos and Light Pillars Halos and many more. Some of them are extremely rare when some are fairly common.

The pictures were taken with Sony Cyber-shot W350.

Awesome post!! You’re right, I guess you can learn something from playing games.

Thank you @agt2001.
Yes, as much as I don't like my son playing all these Halo and shooting games, he does learn from it a bit about the World War I and World War II etc.

I remember seeing a halo around the moon years ago and was also kind of afraid - I had never noticed one before but now I see them all the time.

At first, I thought your photo was a sun dog but they don't usually produce a complete halo. Fun facts!

Yes, I can totally relate to being afraid when you see it for the first time especially if you don't know.
I did hear that you can actually see them quite a bit, so I hope I will get more chances like this. It must be really neat to see them all the time. Where do you live? I guess it all depends on that.

I'm in southern Ontario, right in between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. How' bout you?

Nice, I have never been in Ontario but would love to see it one day. I live right now in Penticton, BC.

I'd love to know about your essentials oils btw. Maybe on steemchat sometime.

That sounds good. I love sharing about the oils and maybe we could steemchat sometime. Or we could set up on FB or skype and we could set up a 30 minute meeting where I can explain all about the oils, a little bit about doterra, the most popular oils.
I also know some of the girls which actually are my leaders that live in Ontario, and they do classes.
But whatever works for you is great, and if you just want to ask a question don't hesitate to ask.
